Some New Timesinks

Hello! Hello! Hello! Today, I decided to ramble about some games that I've been putting my time into. And yes, I know... I didn't post on my blog's anniversary... Bad Kieran!!

1. Gemcraft
Now.. I've played Gemcraft before. Gemcraft Labyrinth to be precise. I actually beat it! But recently when I went back to the game, I found that my save file was gone :O

Battle Stats
It was at that point I realised that I couldn't just leave the game where it was so I started playing it again. About halfway through the game, I decided to try and beat Unlimited Mode (catch 22?). I never did lose my ability to play the game so I had a lot of experience to start with. I played Unlimited Mode with Only Giant Monsters and Quadruple Monsters on, so that my experience multiplier would be high.

YOL Gem

After 6 grueling hours... I finally beat it! My tactic - I made a Yellow-Orange-Lime gem (with equal components). For those of you who don't know Gemcraft at all, yellow gems do multiple damage, orange inflict mana drain on enemies and lime is multiple hits. So combining the three gives you a pretty amazing gem! I made three of these and places one at each entry point of the map. By the time my gems reached level 16 or so, I continued leveling them up with just yellow gems to that the cost was lower and so the multiple damage percentage would increase faster.

Final Result
This is probably going over your heads if you don't know the game. Sorry! As I beat the 1337th wave, I took screenshots... You probably can't see the pics unless you open them in new tabs. But the gems I had at the end had between 29541-111028 Damage plus 100% Chance To Deal 451x Damage, 100% Chance to Hit 23 Targets and 41.9*35.7 Mana Gain Per Hit. Over the 1337 waves, I dealt 36,127,283,765,148 damage to enemies! That's 36 trillion damage!!! :O

As you can tell, I love my numbers ^_^ And I love Gemcraft!!

2. Minecraft
Ah the lovely Minecraft... I got back into this game about 5 days ago. But I haven't sunk as much time into this yet as I normally do. I did find a fantastic world though (the seed is -7783329577781891563). You spawn in a field with loads of sheep. There's a desert nearby, as well as some marshland. There's a Village on the edge of the desert with 3-4 houses and wheat, carrot and potato farms. There's also a ravine very close to the spawn point too!! This is all I've found so far, and I've just started to build my house up properly. So there's so much more to discover. If you're looking for a Minecraft seed to try, give this one a go and let me know how you get on :D

As of yet, I don't have any screenshots because I have nothing really done in the world.. Right now I'm constructing a house with a storage basement underneath and farm nearby. It'll be a lot of work because of the supplies I need to get such as wood (why are there different colours of wood now??). But be warned, there will be screenshots in the future ^_^

3. The World Ends With You
Have you heard of this game? It's a Nintendo DS game. I started playing this in my first year of college on my r4 but never finished it. I bought the game a couple of weeks back and it finally arrived last weekend. I loved the concept of the game - combat takes place on both screen of the Nintendo DS. You play with pins which have different abilities (psychs) and your partner has their own abilities. You fight 'Noise' and try to win a 'game' that you're in that takes place over 7 days. On each day, you have to complete a mission or else you face being 'erased by the noise' which means game over!! I can't really explain it anymore, but it's fantastic!

It has a brilliant story, and great replay value (so I'm told, because I haven't beaten it yet). The combat is hard to master but is really great when you get into it. The pins you play with can evolve into stronger pins. Some can't evolve but those that can can evolve through different types of experience. Here's the pin evolution chart if you ever need it... It has all the pin evolutions on it so it's a players bread and butter ^_^ If you ever get a chance to play the game, do play it! It's a bit old at this stage but it's a fantastic game. I doubt you'll regret playing it.

So between these three games, my study month is going out the window. Exams are starting on May 1st :O That's next Wednesday :/ NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Time for some TWEWY :P
Buh bye :)

Questions & Answers 2

1. What's your impression of assigning gender at birth?

Answer: Hmmm. Interesting question. I suppose my answer is that it's important that a person is assigned a gender at birth. It's up to the doctors, nurses, specialists, parents etc to decide so a decision should be made in the best interest of the baby. Of course, ideally each person should assign their own gender but this can't be done at birth. It's a difficult thing to discuss, but while people do give out about their assigned gender (especially for intersex people), I do think that nobody should be at fault for assigning you a gender you don't feel satisfied with.

2. What would you name you first born child if you were to have one? Both for a boy and a girl.

Answer: This is a hard one... I've been trying to think of names for my kids for years. But I can't find any that I adore. I wish I had a better answer to this but until the time comes, I'm going to say that I'll name my kids once they're born if I think a name fits them. Putting me on the spot, I'd say Isabelle for a girl and Felix for a boy.

3. Ever get those moments where you feel you're going nowhere in life? What do you find helps you get over that slump?

Answer: Yeah, of course! Everyone gets them, don't they? The thing that keeps me going is distractions... video games, books, tv, work... anything to just keep me moving. If I don't think about it, I don't linger on the thoughts and they don't get worse. And then, every now and then, something happens which tells me, "You are doing well! Keep it up!". For example, I've been trying to improve my public speaking for years now and haven't really made that much progress. Lately, when I attended USI Congress in Ballinasloe, I spoke to a room of almost 300 people on a very personal topic... and received so much support from people. I was even nominated Best Maiden Speaker which was amazing because there were some unreal speakers there who would have deserved the nomination.

4. If it was proven that you had in fact committed a terrible crime like murder, but we lived in a sci-fi world where memory wipes and implants existed like in Total Recall, how would you react?

Answer: Well, if we lived in such a sci-fi world, I would assume that I was being framed either through cloning or mind-control or something of the like. Because however powerful mind wipes and stuff may be, the brain is such a powerful tool that I will know the truth... in one form or another. So I would fight to protect my name and never stop.

5. Would you have taken the Red Pill or the Blue Pill?

Answer: Well... from what I've heard, this is a Matrix reference. Yeah, I've not seen The Matrix. So I would have to say, going from my own knowledge, that I'd take the red pill because the last time I took a blue pill, it was a VERY eventful 20th birthday party!
